After emerging victorious in the 2025 ODI World Cup last month, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team is all set to face Sri Lanka in a five-match T20I series. This is going to be India’s first assignment since they defeated South Africa in the finals of the 50-over World Cup in Navi Mumbai on November 2.

The series against Sri Lanka gets underway on December 21, with the first T20I being held at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The same venue will host the second T20I on December 23. For the last three matches on December 26, 28, and 30, the action will shift to the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

Talking about the players selected, there are just two changes from the team which won the T20 World Cup final. Radha Yadav has made way for fellow left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma. Meanwhile, 17-year-old wicketkeeper G Kamalini steps in for Uma Chetry.

India’s last T20I assignment was the five-match series against England in the United Kingdom in June-July. The Women in Blue bagged the series 3-2 after winning the first, second, and fourth T20Is. Radha, Sayali Satghare, and Yastika Bhatia are the three players missing out from that side.

India have a nice mix of youth and experience in their squad. After winning the 50-over World Cup, they will now have their sights on the T20 World Cup, which will be held in the United Kingdom next year in from June 12 to July 5.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will want to make ammends after a disappointing campaign in the ODI World Cup earlier this year. They finished fifth on the points table after winning one and losing three games. Three of their matches ended without a result.

India’s squad for five-match T20I series vs Sri Lanka:

Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Harleen Deol, Amanjot Kaur, Arundhati Reddy, Kranti Gaud, Renuka Singh Thakur, Richa Ghosh (WK), G Kamalini (WK), Sree Charani, Vaishnavi Sharma.
