3 reasons why India lost the 2nd Test against Australia

After winning the first Test in Perth, India suffered an embarrassing loss against Australia in the 2nd Test. The Kangaroos defeated India by 10 wickets in Adelaide and levelled the 5-match Test series 1-1. Travis Head was named Player of the Match for his incredible century.

However, the Indian team will look to bounce back in the 3rd Test which will be played at the Gabba where India last created the history. The Rohit Shama-led side will also look to make some changes in the team for the 3rd Test.

Here are the 3 reasons why India lost the 2nd Test:

1. Batters didn’t perform

It won’t be wrong to say that the main reason behind India’s loss was the batters’ disappointing performance. The Indian batters were unable to perform in both innings as the Australian pacers destroyed the batting lineup. Apart from Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy, no other batter even looked confident.

2. Defensive captaincy

India won the first Test under Jasprit Bumrah’s captaincy, however, as Rohit Sharma came back for the 2nd Test and took back the responsibility, they lost the match. Many fans and experts believe that Rohit was not aggressive with his captaincy and even the field settlements were very defensive.

3. Wrong team selection

Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah was the only bowler who was troubling the Australian batters. Apart from him, Mohammed Siraj might have claimed 4 wickets but he never looked dangerous to play. It is being believed that there might be some changes in the team. Akashdeep might come in place of Harshit Rana who didn’t get a single wicket in the 2nd Test. The no. 1 Test all-rounder in the world, Ravindra Jadeja is also likely to replace R. Ashwin.
