Top 3 batting performances of Jason Roy in IPL

Jason Roy has been one of the best England players in the IPL. He played some important knocks for various sides in the IPL. His recent stint with KKR in 2023 turned out to be a good one. His opening helped KKR in the second half. The star batter pulled out of the IPL 2024 due to unavoidable circumstances. It was the IPL 2023 match against RCB in Bengaluru. Batting first, KKR posted a total of 200 runs. Roy and Nitish Rana played good knocks on a surface that wasn’t easy to bat on. Jason Roy was good in the powerplay that changed the dynamics of the innings. KKR badly needed that knock.

Before Roy, their batting unit looked weak with not a great deal of start. Jason played a fiery knock at the top and set a good platform for the batters after him to fire. His 56(29) included 4 fours and 5 sixes. KKR defended 201 and won the match by 21 runs. Roy’s knock played a key role in KKR’s win.

In the IPL 2023, KKR faced CSK in Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Batting first, CSK scored a massive total of 235 runs on the board. Till then, such a massive score wasn’t chased in the IPL. But KKR stayed alive in the game, thanks to a great innings by the England batter from his end.

Despite batting out of his position in the middle order, the right-handed batter tried his best to keep KKR alive in the match. He scored 61 runs in 26 balls which included 5 sixes and fours each. KKR didn’t get close to the run chase and lost the match by 49 runs.

It was the IPL 2018 match between DC and MI. Back then, Roy was with the Delhi Capitals. The match between the two sides took place in Mumbai. The home side batted first and posted a total of 194 runs on the board. In a day game, DC needed a good start to chase the total.

The star opener went bonkers at the top. As Gautam Gambhir struggled at the other end, Jason decided to anchor the innings. In the middle overs, he helped DC to be in the run chase. His finishing with Pant helped DC to beat MI by 7 wickets. Roy’s 91*(53) included 6 fours and sixes each.
