India will be taking on Zimbabwe in the 5th T20I of the series next week. The young players from the Indian team have impressed everyone with their good performances in the series so far. With no pressure to deliver at all costs, the young players have expressed themselves against a gold Zimbabwe side at home. The players will be looking forward to ending the series on a high note by winning the last match.
It is to look at the probable XI of India for the match:
Top Order
India is likely to go with the opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. Jaiswal didn’t get a game to play for India in the T20 World Cup 2024. Being the future of the Indian batting, the young batter is likely to be back for a long period. He will be useful as an aggressive opener and a handy bowler whenever the situation demands.
At the other end will be the skipper Shubman Gill. The right-handed batter is likely to play the role of an anchor at a gold strike rate to allow others to bat the way they wish to. At number 3, India is likely to have Abhishek Sharma. The Southpaw has been in a blazing form and would love to continue it till the end of the series. Even as a bowler, he is handy.
Middle Order
At number 4, India is likely to play Ruturaj Gaikwad. Though it isn’t his natural position, given the dynamics of the team, he could be assigned the job of a middle-order batter. Sanju Samson is likely to be slotted in at number 5. Much like Gaikwad, the right-handed batter will be batting out of his position. But it will be a good opportunity for him to try and score some runs to gain a bit of confidence at this level.
To follow them are the top finishers of the team. Shivam Dube is likely to be at number 6. Much like Ruturaj and Sanju, the Southpaw will be batting out of position. But given his exposure in the T20 WC 2024 in a similar position, one can expect him to deliver the goods. He can be handy as a bowler too. Rinku Singh at number 7 will be the designated finisher. The talented batter would be hoping to establish his position in the team.
Bowlers
India has an All-rounder like Washington Sundar at number 8 which speaks volumes about the depth of the batting. He has been good as a spin bowler and would be hoping to close the series on a good note. To accompany him in the middle overs would be Ravi Bishnoi. He is brilliant with the ball, can claim stunning catches, and can add some runs lower down the order.
India is likely to continue with the pace bowling duo of Tushar Deshpande and Khaleel Ahmed. The duo will take the new ball and deliver at the death. They have been good in the last few matches and would hope to continue the same in the last match. The left-right angles of the bowlers can trouble the batters. One might not witness any change in the combination.
India’s playing XI against Zimbabwe for the 5th T20I –
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill (C), Abhishek Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson (WK), Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Tushar Deshpande, Khaleel Ahmed
