The firsts are always special and Rajasthan Royals registered their name in the history books by winning the inaugural season of IPL. A young team galvanized by the Australian legend Shane Warne defeated a formidable CSK side in a thrilling final. Chennai batting first ended up with 163 runs in the first innings. It was a tricky target for Rajasthan as those were the early days of T20 cricket and chasing this total in a final was a difficult task. But Rajasthan made the run chase possible on the very last ball of the match to lift their first and only IPL title.

This is probably the most that Rajasthan fans have celebrated after their historic win in 2008. After 14 long years, Rajasthan qualified for the IPL final by winning this match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Qualifier 2. In the first innings, Bangalore was restricted to a low total of 157 runs as Rajasthan put on a commendable bowling performance. In the second innings, Rajasthan romped through the run chase to book a place in the trophy clash against Gujarat Titans.

In 2008, Rajasthan Royals chased a mammoth target of 215 runs against Deccan Chargers. The stars of the show for Rajasthan were Graeme Smith and Yusuf Pathan with their explosive half-centuries. Captain Shane Warne gave the final flourish with his 22-run cameo off just 9 balls. Rajasthan completed the run chase on the very last ball to ensure two points in a tightly fought contest.
