After a two-year hiatus, the Women’s Asia Cup is finally coming to an end. The last event was held in Malaysia in 2018. The team that won the title of that event was Team Bangladesh. Salma-Jahanarara got a taste of winning the trophy in that event by defeating India in the last over.

The next event was supposed to be held in Bangladesh, but it was not possible due to Corona. Then the tournament was postponed to 2021. The tournament did not occur this year due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Finally, the new schedule of the tournament has been fixed. The Women’s Asia Cup will be held in Sylhet, Bangladesh, in October this year, and the six-team tournament will kick off on October 1 and run until October 15.

The 50-over tournament will be held in T20 format this time. All the tournament matches will be held at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, one of the most beautiful stadiums in Bangladesh.

Shafiul Alam Nadel, chairman of the women’s wing of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, the country’s top governing body for cricket, confirmed the information on Sunday. He said the Asian Games are not being held in China this year due to the outbreak of Corona. So, this time the luck of the Women’s Asia Cup has opened. Two days ago, the International Cricket Council (ICC) informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board of the information and schedule.

“We are the defending champions, and we won the title in 2018. The Asian Games in China have been postponed due to Corona. So, it has been decided to hold the Asia Cup. All the matches of the tournament will be in Sylhet. Hopefully, we can organise well,” he said.
