Chasing a daunting target of 214, GG Women had a disastrous start as their skipper and star batter Beth Mooney fell for just six runs in the opening over. Harleen Deol and Ashleigh Gardner couldn’t contribute much either, leaving Gujarat reeling at 43/3 within six overs.

However, the middle-order attempted a fightback, with Danielle Gibson leading the charge with a quick 34 off 24 balls, featuring five boundaries and a six. Phoebe Litchfield and Bharti Fulmali also played aggressive cameos, scoring 31 and 30 runs respectively. Simran Shaikh provided some late fireworks with a 17-run blitz off just eight balls, but with wickets falling at regular intervals, the required rate kept climbing beyond their reach.

Hayley Matthews once again proved why she was the standout performer of the match. After her batting heroics, she returned with the ball to claim three wickets for 31 runs, dismantling Gujarat’s hopes of a miraculous comeback. Amelia Kerr provided valuable support with 2/28 in her four overs, while Shabnim Ismail and Nat Sciver-Brunt chipped in with a wicket each. MI Women wrapped up Gujarat’s innings for 166 in 19.2 overs, sealing a commanding 47-run victory.
