If there is one player who turned heads in the Match 36 of IPL 2025 between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants, it is Vaibhav Suryavanshi. At 14 years and 23 days old, Suryavanshi became the youngest player to play in the cash-rich league. In such a demanding game, Suryavanshi was also asked to open the batting alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, since Sanju Samson had to miss out owing to an injury.

The youngster did not disappoint at all, as he hit his first-ever ball for a huge maximum, which left the world be in awe of the talent that he possesses. Such a way to start his IPL career got even the Google CEO Sundar Pichai bemused at Suryavanshi’s skill set at such a young age. Pichai took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and addressed how big of an achievement it was to be making a debut in the IPL at such a young age.

“Woke up to watch an 8th grader play in the IPL!!!! What a debut!” he shared in the post.

One six was not enough for Suryavanshi, as he went on to provide the Royals a perfect start to the chase. He batted till the ninth over alongside Jaiswal to stitch a magnificent 85-run stand, before being undone by off-spinner Aiden Markram. Suryavanshi’s knock of 34 from just 20 balls, saw him hit three sixes in addition to a couple of boundaries as well.

Avesh Khan wins a cliffhanger for LSG

After his dismissal, the 181-run target set by the Super Giants started to take a toll on the hosts, as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Eventually, the thrilling encounter went down to the wire, as some exceptional death bowling by Avesh Khan ensured a 2-run victory for the visiting side. Avesh finished with figures of 3/37 and was also the Player of the Match for his brilliant spell with the ball.

“We wanted to take our time and set the field right in the last over. I keep thinking about the team and wanted to win the game for the team. It is a long tournament and I just want to do it for the team,” the pacer said at the post-match presentation.
