India will enter the T20 World Cup 2026 as one of the strongest contenders, carrying both confidence and expectation as the defending champions. The thrilling victory over South Africa in the 2024 final marked India’s second T20 World Cup triumph which reinforced their growing dominance in the shortest format.

As preparations continue for the upcoming edition, the Men in Blue will aim not only to defend their title but also to further cement their status as the most formidable T20 side, especially in home conditions. India’s claim as favourites is strongly backed by numbers. Over the years, they have produced some extraordinary records in T20 cricket, consistently outclassing opponents.

Here are three stats that prove India are unbeatable at home

Unbeaten in bilateral T20I series since the 2024 World Cup

Since lifting the T20 World Cup in 2024, India have not lost a single bilateral T20I series. They have featured in eight such series and emerged victorious in all of them, often with commanding margins. The  run is even more impressive because of the quality of opposition.

India have dominated top sides like England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, applying relentless pressure from the very first match of each series. This unbeaten streak from the 2024 World Cup has only grown stronger which shows remarkable consistency.

Highest win percentages among Full Member nations

India’s overall performance in T20 internationals further strengthens their reputation. They have played 268 T20I matches, and have won 179, resulting in a win percentage of 66.79%. This figure places them well above most Full Member nations.

Recent series, including a convincing 4-1 victory over New Zealand, underline their all-round strength. While India’s batting firepower often steals the spotlight, their bowling unit has been equally effective, delivering match-winning spells under pressure.

Undefeated in T20I series at home since 2019

The most striking statistic is India’s dominance in home conditions. Since 2019, they have not lost a single T20I series on Indian soil. Out of 19 series played, India have won 17 and drawn two. Indian pitches, which traditionally assist spin, have played to India’s strengths, allowing their spinners and all-rounders to control games with precision. This sustained success shows India’s tactics and adaptability in familiar conditions.
