Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) collide at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday, May 2. This is going to be an important game for both teams as neither of them has had the kind of campaign they would have envisaged heading into the season.
Jasprit Bumrah‘s form has been a concern for the Mumbai Indians as he has picked up only two wickets in eight games. However, former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary opined that the team management has not made things easy for the stalwart as he hasn’t been used well. Tiwary suggested that Bumrah and Ashwani Kumar should take the new ball. With a few tweaks here and there, the cricketer-turned-commentator believes that Mumbai can defend 200-plus totals.
“They will have to go back to the drawing board and do the things that made MI. You have the players. In my opinion, if the bowlers are used well, like Jasprit Bumrah’s first over, we are repeating the fact that Bumrah is getting hit for runs, but what situation did you create for him, that is also important to note. I think that Ashwani Kumar should bowl with the new ball with Bumrah, because he can move the ball. So, if such small changes are made, I feel that if they score more than 200, they can defend it,” Tiwary said on Cricbuzz.
Meanwhile, Murali Kartik said that there are not too many problems with the five-time champions’ squad, and it’s surprising to see them languishing in the lower half of the points table.
“There is no problem with this team on paper, but something is not going well. I keep thinking what can MI do, they are doing a lot of things right, but a lot of things are not in their control as well. It is very surprising that we are seeing this team so low in the points table,” Kartik said via the aforementioned source.
