What if Mumbai Indians win all remaining Matches-Will that be enough for Playoffs?

The league stage of the IPL 2025 is almost coming to an end and the race to the playoffs is still alive with one and only spot up for grabs, after GT, RCB and PBKS ensured theirs. With the bottom five teams knocked out from the race, only Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have the chance of making it, but there’s only one place to fill. MI have two games remaining, which will also be crucial to ensure their spot in the playoffs.

The Mumbai franchise is currently fourth on the points table, winning seven and losing five in the 12 matches they have played so far. The last two games for the five-time champions will be against the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). These will be some tough games for the Men in Blue and Gold with PBKS being among the strongest teams who have ensured qualification and the Capitals fighting for a place in the final four.

It is time to discuss the ways the Mumbai franchise can make it to the playoffs for the 11th time in IPL history and keep their dreams of the sixth title alive. Some of these scenarios are interesting considering the position of the two teams, MI will be battling to ensure their place within the top four.

Here are three ways in which Mumbai Indians can qualify for IPL 2025 Playoffs:

Scenario 1: MI to win against DC for sure shot qualification

It is not a necessity for the Mumbai franchise to win all their remaining games to qualify. A win in their upcoming game against the Delhi Capitals will be enough to ensure their spot in the playoffs, even if they lose their last game against PBKS. Winning to DC will ensure they will get to 16 points. On the other hand, DC can only get to 15 points even if they win against the Punjab franchise, making their disqualification inevitable.

Scenario 2: MI lose to DC, beat PBKS and hope DC don’t win against PBKS

This will be a slightly tough scenario for Mumbai Indians if they lose their upcoming fixture against the Delhi Capitals and win their last-must win game against PBKS. This means that all their hopes will lie in the last game featuring PBKS and DC and will be hoping for the latter to lose, leaving them stranded on 15 points while MI will qualify with 16 points.

3. MI beat both DC and PBKS to ensure top-two finish

If MI both their upcoming fixtures, they will not only qualify for the playoffs, but could also ensure a top-two finish if RCB and PBKS lose their last two matches. MI will reach 18 points after winning the two games, while PBKS and RCB will remain on 17 points if they lose their games. This will be a big advantage for MI going into the playoffs as well, with the losing team among the top two getting another opportunity to in the Qualifier 2.
