Despite Shubman Gill being the poster boy and captain of Gujarat Titans (GT), it is his opening partner Sai Sudharsan who has truly stolen the limelight in the ongoing IPL 2025. The 23-year-old has been one of the best batters in the tournament so far and is also among the strong contenders for the Orange Cap race. He is currently the leading run-scorer for Gujarat with 273 runs from five games at an average of 54.60 and a strike-rate of 151.66.

The team’s assistant coach Parthiv Patel has talked about how Sudharsan has run the hard yards in order to improve his ball game and excel for the franchise. Parthiv believes that the young batter does not get carried away easily by things and keeps the things simple to get the best out of himself. These qualities are the reason behind his consistent performances for the side, the assistant coach further believes.

“I think, having seen him in the last month or so, he works really hard. I’m not surprised at all that he is getting these kinds of results. There were times when we had to drag him out of the nets. He keeps it simple. In this era, it is easy to get carried away; you have to hit so many sixes, or you have to play at a certain strike rate. But he understands his game, and he backs that. That is why you see consistent performances from him,” Parthiv said during a press conference.

GT’s good run continues

The Titans have enjoyed a great run so far in the first half of the season, where they are currently on top of the table after their win against the Rajasthan Royals, their fourth of the season. Sai Sudharsan was once against the star of the match with his incredible knock of 82 off 53, which was enough to adjudge him as the Player of the Match.

The 2022 champions have played five matches so far and have only lost once and winning five during the tournament. The upcoming game will be against the Lucknow Super Giants, which will be played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 12, and the Tamil Nadu-born will be hoping to make it yet another memorable outing for himself with the bat in his hands.
