The cricketing world got one of the biggest shocks when legendary batter Virat Kohli announced his Test retirement at the age of 36. Apart from fans and cricket pundits, some famous influencers have also reacted to the legend hanging up his boots.

It is no secret that Kohli’s fandom is global and his craze is not limited to just India. In the same light, Darren Jason Watkins Jr., the popular American YouTube sensation who goes by the name of Ishowspeed, has reacted to Kohli’s departure from the red-ball format.  

A renowned fan of the 36-year-old, Speed expressed his disappointment over the Delhi batter’s retirement from Test cricket and expressed shock on the fact that he retired after just months winning an ICC title (Champions Trophy 2025).

“Virat Kohli is gone..Chat, I don’t understand what’s happening, man. This is sad, all the legends are retiring, bro. Ain’t no way he just retired; they just won the ICC tournament. Why would he retire if they just won an ICC? He’s just 36, this gotta be fake,” Speed said on his YouTube channel.

Virat Kohli to resume RCB duty

Though Kohli will no longer be donning the whites for India, he will be back in action in the IPL 2025 with the tournament being resumed after a one-week suspension following the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.

The tournament will resume with a clash between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, with Kohli returning to action. The right-hander is one among the top run-scorers this season, having scored 505 runs at an average of 63.13 in 11 games so far. Notably, this is the eighth time Kohli has crossed the 500-run mark in a single edition, the most for any batter in the history of the league.
