New Zealand international Kane Williamson pulled off a mind-boggling catch at the wide long-off fence during Surrey’s game against Middlesex in the ongoing edition of the Men’s Vitality Blast 2025. Ace opener Jason Roy was the batter who had to walk back to the shed because of the absolute brilliance exhibited by the 34-year-old Williamson.

The spark of brilliance occurred on the final delivery of the seventh over of the first innings. An over-pitched delivery from Luke Hollman was lofted quite extravagantly by Roy over the right of the cover region. The Kiwi cricketer ran to his left from his original wide long-off position to complete the catch close to the boundary rope while diving on his follow-through.

The BlackCaps player did exceptionally well to control his body from trickling over the fence by lifting his legs in the air shortly after getting hold of the ball. The overall effort of first sprinting towards the ball and then adjusting his body while sliding to keep his lower portion of the body from coming in contact of the rope earned him a huge applause from the crowd at the Lord’s.

Speaking of the match, Middlesex fell short by just eight runs in the South Group clash. Chris Jordan conceded only 10 runs in the final over to end up with excellent figures of 2/28 in his four-over quota. Earlier in the day, Will Jacks provided (52 off 36) his team with a motoring start. Tom Curran (47 off 22) played his part with the bat with perfection.

Ryan Higgins ended up conceding 33 runs in his four overs in the first innings. This win extended Surrey’s winning streak to four and left Middlesex in a dire state at ninth position on the table. The final match will be played on Friday, July 18. Middlesex and Surrey have won three and 10 out of their 13 group-stage matches, respectively.
