Virat Kohli played one of his best knocks of the IPL 2025 against RR at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The star batter scored 70 runs in 42 balls at a strike rate of 166.67, which included 8 fours and 2 sixes with some classy drives and flick shots. Kohli’s knock helped RCB to stabilize their innings under challenging batting conditions to bat.

The right-handed batter had to surpass the testing conditions in the first few overs when Jofra Archer breathed fire. The English pacer got the ball to swing inside the right-handers and troubled the batters. He even extracted a bit of extra bounce from the surface and made the kids of the batters tough.

Kohli cautiously played out his spell, albeit with some luck. By the end of the powerplay overs, he was 27(16), which allowed Phil Salt to take a bit of time on his off day. The star batter accelerated even in the middle overs and showed a great application against the spinners on a surface that was gripping a bit.

Against Riyan Parag and Wanindu Hasaranga, the RCB batter rotated the strike well and consistently hit boundaries. Virat was slightly watchful in between the overs 7-10 and unleashed fury after getting set. He was helped at the other end by Devdutt Padikkal, who looked in a fine touch too.

Kohli played some amazing drives and eye-pleasing flick shots, which were the highlights of his knock. The star batter batted equally well against pacers and spinners, and helped RCB’s innings to gain momentum in the middle overs. As a result, Kohli’s class, coupled with aggression, helped RCB’s innings big time.

Against a quality bowling attack consisting of Archer, Tushar Deshpande, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Sandeep Sharma, and Wanindu Hasaranga, the star batter gave a good start and continued it with his strike rotation and aggression in the middle overs. When he got out to Archer at 70, Kohli was disappointed to have missed out on a ton, albeit doing his job very well.
