Speaking of the Prime Minister’s National Child Award, it is India’s highest civilian honor which is given to children between the ages of five and 18. The award is presented to people for achievements in different categories such as sports, science & technology, social service, innovation, arts & culture, etc. While receiving the award in front of a packed house, the announcer highlighted how Suryavanshi was the youngest cricketer to play the IPL and score a ton in its 18-season history so far.

Suryavanshi was recently a part of India squad for the U19 Asia Cup. He registered 261 runs in five matches at an explosive strike rate of 182.51. Suryavanshi could not put together a substantial innings in the summit clash in the final which India eventually lost in Dubai recently. He is, however, coming off a record-shattering century knock in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

For the unversed, Suryavanshi received this honour after a remarkable performance earlier in the way. He amassed 190 off 84 against Arunachal Pradesh in a knock which comprised 16 fours and 15 sixes. His innings was vital in Bihar posting a mammoth 574 in their 50-over quota. He also surpassed South Africa’s AB de Villiers’ record for the fastest 150 in List A cricket with the knock.
