A Pakistani fan was spotted singing the Indian national anthem – Jana Gana Mana – ahead of the India versus Pakistan match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, on Sunday, February 15. The game was surrounded by controversies ahead of its start, with Pakistan refusing to play. But the game was eventually reinstated, and when it was, India claimed a 61-run win against their long-time arch-rivals.
As a customary norm in all multinational events, the national anthems of both the participating teams are played before getting the match formally underway. Despite the sensitive geopolitical relations between the two countries, the fan is grabbing widespread attention for his antics to sing the counterpart’s national anthem. The fan also recorded the video and posted it on social media, where it has now gone viral.
