Off-spin all-rounder Saransh Jain picked up his first-ever Test wicket in his debut outing at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo, sending Lahiru Kumara packing on Day 4 of the ongoing second Test between Sri Lanka and India. While a debut wicket is always special and bowlers are often expected to celebrate with their teammates, Saransh kept a stone face, showing absolutely no reaction at all.
Saransh forced an outside edge off Kumara’s blade as it went in the air towards the covers. Dhruv Jurel timed his dive to perfection and completed a fine catch. Saransh had his eyes on the ball all the while, and the moment it was completed, he did not show any emotion on his face. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant then was seen going close to the 33-year-old and congratulating him for his maiden wicket in red-ball cricket.
