Rohit Sharma has joined Mumbai Indians’ the training camp ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 season, as the Mumbai Indians team have announced his arrival in style.

The former MI captain joined the squad for the upcoming season as can be seen from the video. He was all dressed up in the match jersey and was greeted by his longtime Mumbai and India teammate Shardul Thakur.

Rohit later joined the practice session where others were already sweating it out. The right-hander batted against Shardul and few other pacers.

Mumbai Indians officially kicked off their pre-season preparations earlier this week, with head coach Mahela Jayawardene overseeing the session alongside members of the support staff. Several players, including both experienced names and young talents, reported for the initial phase of the camp as the franchise began gearing up for the new season.

The remaining members of the squad are expected to join in the coming days, with the team set to gradually ramp up intensity ahead of the tournament. MI will begin their IPL 2026 campaign against the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 29 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

Rohit, who has stepped away from Tests and T20Is for India, is set to return to T20 action in the IPL and will once again play a crucial role at the top of the order as Mumbai Indians aim for the record-breaking sixth title.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene opened up on what he wants from his players in these pre-season practice sessions.

“There’s always something special about the first day of pre-season. You see the players walk in, the energy builds, and the objective is to start strong. We’ve got the boys who know this franchise inside out, and we have got some exciting new faces coming in,” he was quoted as saying by the Asianet News.
