Australia made a terrific comeback after big defeats in the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The visitors, on Friday, clinched a nine-wicket win against India at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. With this win, Australia secured their place in the World Test Championship (WTC) final, which is set to be played in June, at The Oval, London.

The Rohit Sharma-led team were bundled out for 163 in their second innings, with Nathan Lyon claiming eight wickets. Chasing 76 runs, Australia lost an early wicket with Ravichandran Ashwin dismissing opener Usman Khawaja on just the second ball of the day. However, a partnership between Travis Head (49*) and Marnus Labuschagne (28*) got the job done for the visitors in a little over (18.5) an hour.

During Australia’s chase, India batter Shreyas Iyer was seen trying to sledge Australia batter, Travis Head. The incident took place in the sixth over, when Head was facing Ravindra Jadeja. Iyer was seen standing at short fine leg and was caught on the stump mic saying a hilarious comment.

“Iska ek pair Chandigarh mein, dusra Haryana mein (His one leg is in Chandigarh and other in Haryana),” Iyer was heard saying.

Meanwhile, Head didn’t understood what the India batter said as he maintained his composure and carried on with his innings.

Australia bounce back with a scintillating victory in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Talking about the third Test, India won the toss and opted to bat first. The hosts were bundled out for just 109 and conceded 88 run lead after Australia’s innings. The Indian top-order failed miserably by the Australian defense in their second innings taking only a lead of 76 runs. Australia chased the target very easily and now trails 1-2 in the four-match Test series.

This win was Australia’s first victory on Indian soil in six years. Meanwhile, it was only India’s third defeat in the last 10 years.

Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC), on Friday, announced that the pitch at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore has been rated as “poor” under the ICC Pitch and Outfield Monitoring Process. However, India now needs to rework their plans ahead of the fourth and final Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad beginning from March 9.
