[WATCH] IPL 2025: Yashasvi Jaiswal whacks two humongous sixes in DC vs RR clash

Yashasvi Jaiswal got Rajasthan Royals’ chase going against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium by smashing two huge sixes and helping his side get off to a flying start in pursuit of 189. After a decent performance in previous games, Jaiswal looked in solid touch against DC.

The Southpaw began by hitting Mukesh Kumar over long-off, sending the ball to the second tier of the stand. Later, he took on Mitchell Starc’s second over, the third of RR’s innings. Jaiswal hammered a short ball for four between point and cover, then followed it up with a pull over deep square leg for a massive six. But a few deliveries later, he smashed another six over deep backwards square leg, scoring 19 runs in that over alone. The pull landed into the second tier, reminding many of Jaiswal’s exploits against Starc in the Perth Test.

The Royals’ opening pair of Jaiswal and skipper Sanju Samson raced to 61 runs in just 5.3 overs. Samson looked in good touch, scoring 31 off just 19 balls with two boundaries and three sixes. However, the RR captain’s knock came to a shocking halt due to injury.

After hitting a boundary, Samson appeared to pull something in his side and was visibly in pain. Unable to continue, he signalled to the physio and walked off, retired hurt. With Samson out of the middle, Riyan Parag joined Jaiswal as RR reached 63/0 at the end of the sixth over, maintaining a run rate of 10.50.

Earlier, DC put a total of 188/5 thanks to late cameos from Axar Patel (34 off 14) and Tristan Stubbs (34* off 18). Abhishek Porel (49 off 37) played a solid hand up top, while KL Rahul contributed 38 before falling to Jofra Archer.
