A comical moment unfolded between Suryakumar Yadav and Abhishek Sharma involving the former checking the left-handed batter’s pockets during Match 33 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, April 17. The light-hearted episode took place ahead of the start of the eighth over of the first innings.

Just as Hardik Pandya was marking his run-up and going up to his bowling mark, Suryakumar hilariously arrived next to Abhishek to frisk through Abhishek’s pockets in the hope of finding any kind of chits. This incident occurred a few days after Abhishek pulled out a chit from his pocket on getting to his century, with the scrap of paper reading, “This one is for the Orange Army”.

Abhishek went on to amass 141 off 55 deliveries in that same game against Punjab Kings to secure the Player of the Match accolade after SRH marched to an eight-wicket win with nine deliveries to spare. Abhishek later went onto mention that the knock was dedicated to the ardent supporters of the franchise, who backed their side through a tough phase prior to the game.

Speaking of the fixture between MI and SRH, the hosts ended up clinching a victory by four wickets. Abhishek emerged as the top run-getter for his side. Being put in to bat first, SRH could only get to 162/5 at the end of their allotted quota of 20 overs. Four players from MI ended up scoring in the 20-30 range, Suryakumar (26 off 15) being one of them.

With that, MI recorded their third win of IPL 2025. As far as SRH are concerned, they lost their fifth match of the ongoing season. The reverse fixture will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday, April 23. That game is scheduled to commence at 7:30 pm (IST) too.
