The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowler Nuwan Thushara struck early against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 70 of the IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. RCB skipper Jitesh Sharma won the toss and elected to field first, while bringing in the Sri Lankan into the playing XI in place of Lungi Ngidi.

The RCB debutant came to bowl the third over of the powerplay with Mitchell Marsh and Matthew Breetzke at the crease. He bowled an away swinger to Breetzke and was looking for the yorker. But the ball turned out to be a low full-toss, and the right-handed batter moved away on the drive. Breetzke missed the ball completely, and the off-stump flew away. Thushara brought the game to their side early in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash taking place in Lucknow.

Thusara is a fast bowler from Sri Lanka who idolizes Lasith Malinga and has a similar slingy-arm like bowling action. He is renowned for executing yorkers with impeccable accuracy, which makes him an ideal pacer in the T20 cricket format. While representing the island nation, he has picked 26 wickets in 18 games with an economy of 7.65.

Besides Thusara, RCB also brought in Liam Livingstone in place of the injured Tim David. The home team also brought in Digvesh Rathi after his one-match suspension, and Aiden Markram also left the team to play in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final.

Speaking about the team’s campaign, RCB are through to the playoffs and are currently third in the IPL 2025 points table with 17 points. The Bengaluru-based side will aim to win the match and move to the top two positions.

The Rishabh Pant-led side was not consistent throughout the tournament and displayed some immense form in the previous game against the Gujarat Titans (GT). They will aim to win the match in front of their home crowd, and end their campaign on a positive note.
