Gujarat Titans’ (GT) talismanic leg-spinner Rashid Khan went for 25 runs in his first over in the clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, May 22.

Shubman Gill introduced Rashid into the bowling attack in the 12th over, with Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran at the crease. The Australian all-rounder was batting on 59 off 40 balls, while Pooran had only faced two balls, having scored seven runs.

Rashid started his spell with a half-tracker, and a well-set Marsh had no problem in depositing it over cow corner. The following delivery went for a boundary as he cut a googly powerfully past the cover fielder.

The Afghanistan stalwart altered his length and tossed a delivery on a full length. However, there was no respite for him as Marsh swung his bat fiercely and sent it over long-off. The ball came off the toe-end, but Marsh is nicknamed ‘Bison’ for a reason. Rashid dropped the next two deliveries short, and both went to the fence on the on-side. Marsh took a single off the last delivery off the over, racing to 84 off just 46 balls.

Marsh brought up his maiden IPL century off just 56 balls. He hit 10 fours and six sixes in the innings. The 33-year-old got to the landmark in the 17th over, taking a single off Arshad Khan’s second over.

Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran also played a blinder of an innings to support Marsh as they look to end a four-match losing streak.
