In the ongoing clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Harshal Patel executed a perfect dipping yorker that not only gave him a wicket but also registered his name in IPL history. With a brilliant slow-dipping yorker to dismiss Aiden Markram, Patel became the fastest Indian bowler to reach 150 wickets in the IPL, achieving the feat in just 117 matches.

SRH, already out of playoff contention, walked into the match looking to salvage pride, while LSG were on a hunt for a top-four finish. Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl, expecting the pitch to help his seamers in the latter half. Markram looked in good touch as he guided LSG to a solid position with a 61 off 38 balls. Alongside Mitchell Marsh (65 off 39), the duo stitched a 115-run opening stand in just 10.3 overs.

But the incident took place in the 16th over, with Patel going wide of the crease and delivering a slow-dipping yorker aimed at middle stump. Expecting a full toss, Markram positioned himself to hit a big shot, only for the ball to dip late, sneak under his bat, and crash into the stumps, making him Patel’s 150th IPL wicket. In doing so, he surpassed Yuzvendra Chahal (118 matches) and Jasprit Bumrah (124) as the fastest Indian to reach the milestone.

Despite LSG’s flying start, 108 runs without loss in the first 10 overs, SRH’s bowlers made an impressive comeback. Eshan Malinga ended with 2 for 28, including the wickets of Rishabh Pant and Ayush Badoni. Harsh Dubey also chipped in by dismissing Marsh. Eventually, LSG could only manage 205/7 in their 20 overs. Chasing 206, SRH started well. Though they lost Atharva Taide early, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan kept the scoreboard ticking. At the end of the fourth over, SRH were 52/1, scoring at 13 runs per over.
