Sai Sudharsan is one of the most talented young cricketers in India at the moment. After being on a roll in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Gujarat Titans (GT) since his debut in 2022, the southpaw is now slowly cementing his place as India’s No. 3 batter in Test cricket.

On Day 3 of the second Test between India and the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Sudharsan was exempted from fielding duties after suffering a finger injury on the previous day. In a clip which has gone viral on the internet, the southpaw could be seen sitting near the boundary rope, enjoying a burger, when a fan requests him to leave the Gujarat Titans and join the Chennai Super Kings.

“Gujarat se nikal jao, CSK mein zarurat hai! (Leave Gujarat Titans, we need you at CSK!)” the fan could be heard saying.

While Sudharsan didn’t react to this plea, the video has sparked speculations of a potential shift in base for the soon-to-be 14-year-old. Interestingly, Sudharsan was born in Chennai and plays domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu.

Sudharsan has been an integral part of the Titans’ setup, even winning the Orange Cap this year. He amassed 759 runs in 15 innings at an average of 54.21 and a strike rate of 156.17.

Sudharsan did not have a great start to his Test career, scoring just 140 runs in six innings, averaging 23.33. However, in the second Test against the West Indies, he contributed with a crucial 87 off 165 balls in the first innings. In the second innings, Sudharsan has batted positively and scored an unbeaten 30 off 47  deliveries at the end of Day 4. India need just 58 more runs to win the match on Day 5, with nine wickets remaining.
