[WATCH] Hardik Pandya gives inspirational speech in MI dressing room after RCB defeat

Captain Hardik Pandya gave a motivational speech in the Mumbai Indians (MI) dressing room following their defeat at the hands of defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 12.

Following the crushing loss, skipper Hardik rallied his squad with some inspirational words in the dressing room. The all-rounder urged the team to reflect on past performances and figure out how to get the best out of themselves going forward in the tournament.

“Taking from what MJ (Mahela Jayawardene) said, I think here there are two options that we can do. One is going back in our rooms, go back in our cocoon spaces and try to figure it out. I know it’s tough, losing is always tough, but let’s learn. Let’s not get disappeared. It is always winning and learning, never losing. So, let’s do that. That’s what something which tonight, after the game, once we go back to the hotel, let’s have a meal together, and we will figure something out. We will talk about cricket, we will talk about something else, but we will figure it out,” Hardik said in the dressing room.

MI have not lost three consecutive matches in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. After their opening game victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders, the five-time champions have lost to the Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and most recently against RCB to find themselves languishing eighth in the standings.

MI were chasing the game from the moment RCB put 240 runs on the board whilst batting first. The hosts fell to an 18-run defeat, which could have been a lot more if not for Sherfane Rutherford’s quick-fire 71 not out towards the backend of their innings.

MI have a few days to retrospect before taking on an in-form Punjab Kings side in Match 24 at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, April 16.
