The five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Mumbai Indians have released a special video for their talisman Jasprit Bumrah’s arrival in an epic video announcement.
The video refers to Bumrah as Mumbai Indians’ ‘Dhurandhar’, and is stylised with reference to the famous bollywood movie that has been released recently. It also features Bumrah’s bowling partner Trent Boult. It was released just after the Indian pacer’s arrival at the camp.

After lots of speculation regarding injuries, Jasprit Bumrah has rejoined the Mumbai Indians camp and is in contention for their IPL 2026 opener against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on March 29. Head coach Mahela Jayawardene confirmed the development, stating that although Bumrah missed Friday’s training session, he was back with the squad on Saturday, just a day before the clash.
The premier pacer had recently been at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, focusing on strength and conditioning. The move was part of a workload management plan designed by the board’s medical team, keeping India’s white-ball tour of England in July in mind.
Despite battling a back injury in IPL 2025, Bumrah had delivered an impressive campaign, finishing as MI’s second-highest wicket-taker. He picked up 18 wickets in 12 matches at a remarkable economy of 6.67, playing a key role. He also carried that form into international cricket, emerging as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Mitchell Santner and Will Jacks yet to join MI, confirms Jayawardene
Meanwhile, MI will miss the services of Mitchell Santner and Will Jacks for their opening fixture. Jayawardene revealed that both players had requested additional time off for personal reasons, a decision the franchise has respected.
“Mitch and Jacksy both asked for a slightly extended break due to personal reasons, and we were fine with that. They’ll be joining the squad soon, but we’re comfortable with the group we currently have,” Jayawardene said.
Historically, Mumbai Indians have struggled to start their campaigns strongly, having not won their opening game since 2012. However, they boast an excellent record against KKR at the Wankhede, having won 10 of their 12 encounters at the venue, which will give them added confidence heading into the season opener.
