WATCH: Champions Trophy 2025: Hardik Pandya smiles cheekily as Travis Head survives run-out scare

India and Australia game has become one of the most tense and dramatic games in the recent past. One player who has consistently been a hurdle on India’s side is Travis Head. From his match-winning performances in the ODI World Cup 2023 final to the World Test Championship final, the southpaw has been Australia’s key man against the Men in Blue.

The semi-final clash of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was no different, with the Indian team looking to make an early impact and not letting Head get settled. In the fourth over, Hardik Pandya bowled a back-of-a-length delivery, which Head played towards backward point and ran for a quick single before avindra Jadeja’s sharp throw at the non-striker’s end narrowly missed the stumps.

Realising how close he was to getting dismissed, Head took a sigh of relief after making his ground. However, the Indian all-rounder was quick to remind him of the moment, with a smile on his face.

Though Head survived the run-out scare, India didn’t have to wait long to see his back. In the ninth over, mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy was introduced into the attack, and he struck gold immediately.

Head, who had already scored 39 off 33 balls with five fours and two sixes, decided to take on the spinner without even judging him. Looking to loft the ball down the ground, he mistimed the shot and Shubman Gill made no mistake at long-off.

Meanwhile, earlier, the Men in Blue removed opener Cooper Connolly in the third over, thanks to ace pacer Mohammed Shami.
