[WATCH] Ben Stokes’ facial transformation post surgery leaves cricket fraternity stunned

England Test captain Ben Stokes has had a facial transformation following his latest surgery during a media appearance ahead of the international summer on home soil. 

In a video posted by Toyota UK’s official Instagram account in collaboration with England Cricket, Stokes is looking considerably skinny, something not seen before from the all-rounder. The video shared on social media showcased England’s newest Castore kits for all three formats of the game.

The video had a plethora of England stars, including Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Gus Atkinson and Ben Duckett, amongst others. However, it was Stokes’ look which caught the eye of cricket fans.

Earlier this year, Stokes underwent facial surgery after being struck by a cricket ball on his face during a nets session. After recovering from the nasty blow, the 34-year-old stated that he is lucky not to have gotten a serious injury.

“It was a pretty scary situation. I copped one straight in the face. Just a couple of inches one way or the other, I might not be here doing this interview if I didn’t turn my head round. It was a bit of a mess under here [the cheekbone]. I’ve got out quite lucky. Thankfully, still here and everything’s all right,” Stokes was quoted as saying on BBC Sport. 

This is going to be a big summer for Stokes and England. The Three Lions will come into the Test series against New Zealand in June on the back of an emphatic Ashes defeat by the score of 4-1. Despite the shortcomings of their tour Down Under, the left-handed batter has been given the vote of trust and remains captain of the Test squad. He scored 184 runs and took 15 wickets in the Ashes. 

Stokes’ side will face the Black Caps in a three-match Test series before facing Pakistan in a series comprising the same number of matches towards the end of August.
