It is undeniable that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have had a tough time playing red-ball cricket after retiring from T20Is with a title win in the T20 World Cup 2024. But the duo still are a force to reckon with in the white-ball cricket and it is just a matter of time when things start working for them. Both star batters and their admirers are hoping for their comeback in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025.

Former India cricketer, Yuvraj Singh, who has played ample cricket with the Indian cricket icons, has backed them to come among runs in an ongoing ICC event. While doing so, he highlighted their impact on Indian cricket over two decades and also added their significance ahead of the crucial clash against Pakistan on February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

“There is no doubt that all Indian players are very good, but Virat and Rohit are in a league of their own. That’s because they have been performing consistently for nearly 20 years, and their impact on the team is massive. If they get out early, it will make a significant difference in India’s dressing room, and Pakistan’s morale will rise,” said Yuvraj on JioHotstar.

“That doesn’t mean the rest of the Indian players won’t perform—they are very talented—but they are still developing. Similarly, when Babar Azam gets out for Pakistan, the opposition’s bowlers get a boost, and Pakistan’s dressing room feels the pressure. For Pakistan to win, the lower and middle order must step up. If India loses both Rohit and Virat early, Pakistan can gain an advantage,” he added.

In the first game against Bangladesh, Rohit looked in sound touch as he scored 40-odd runs at a quick pace. He smashed seven boundaries and set the tone for a 229-run chase as India reached the target with six wickets remaining.
