“Gudakesh Motie to Dipendra Singh Airee, SIX.” That moment summed up Nepal’s resistance in Match 25 of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Walking in with Nepal reeling after a sharp top-order collapse against the West Indies, the seasoned campaigner took it upon himself to rebuild an innings that was in danger of folding cheaply.
The defining moment arrived in the 12th over. Airee used his feet brilliantly against Motie, got to the pitch of the ball, and lofted it cleanly over long-off for the first six of the innings. Airee’s boundary was a statement that Nepal won’t give up just like that. From there, he grew in confidence, mixing composure with calculated aggression. His 54-run stand with Sompal Kami gave the side something to cheer about.
Airee finished with a fighting 58 off 47 balls, striking at 123.4, and lacing his knock with three sixes and three fours. In a tough situation, he gave Nepal 133 to defend at a tricky Wankhede deck and a reminder of his value under pressure.
