Delhi Capitals were cruising at 66/2 after six overs against Chennai Super Kings, looking well on track in the chase. But the momentum shifted instantly, thanks to a breathtaking piece of fielding from Sarfaraz Khan.
On the very first ball of the seventh over, Gurjapneet Singh struck gold. He bowled a short-of-length delivery outside off, inviting Axar Patel to go hard at it. Axar obliged with a fierce cut, but failed to keep it down.
Stationed at backward point, Sarfaraz reacted brilliantly, sprinting to his right and diving full stretch to complete a stunning catch mid-air. Given the pace at which the ball was travelling, it was an exceptional effort.
The dismissal not only gave Gurjapneet his maiden IPL wicket on his first-ever ball but also gave a thumping blow to the visitors at a crucial stage, turning the game’s momentum in CSK’s favour. The celebration was special too, as the young man sprinted all around Chepauk in great enthusiasm.
