The entire country of India went into a state of mourning following the lives of more than 26 people lost due to dastardly terror attacks in the Pahalgam region of Jammu & Kashmir. The effect was seen on cricket as well, as IPL 2025 game between SRH and MI saw the teams and match officials wear black armbands to commemorate the loss. The Match 44 at the Eden Gardens between KKR and PBKS also saw similar act being shown by the teams.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has also been in the news for not coming up with memes and social media activity following the attacks. Many netizens were seen asking him regarding his inactivity on the platform and now, the cricketer has himself come forward to reveal the actual reason. Known for his witty takes on IPL matches, Jaffer has revealed that the kind of time country is going through, making memes is not sensible.

“To those asking why I haven’t posted any memes –  This is not a time to make memes. I urge everyone to be sensitive, there are 28 families mourning. What happened in Pahalgam was barbaric and heinous. Cricket is just a game, human life far more important,” he wrote on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter).

Other cricketers share their condolences

Notably, Jaffer was not the only one in the cricketing community who shared his condolences towards the lives that were lost during the attack, but other cricketers also gave an emotional message on social media and gave their support to the people who were harmed. Legendary batters Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli were among the cricketers who shared their remorse for the victims.

“The affected families must be going through an unimaginable ordeal – India and the world stand united with them at this dark hour, as we mourn the loss of lives and pray for justice,” Tendulkar wrote.

“Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength to families all those who lost their lives and justice to be served for their cruel act,” Kohli shared via a recent Instagram story.
