Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced their 15-member squad for their World Test Championship final 25 final against Australia. South Africa will be taking on the Pat Cummins-led side at the Lord’s, with the game scheduled to commence on June 11.

The unveiling was carried out in a rather creative manner by skipper, Temba Bavuma. The clip posted by CSA comprised Bavuma listing out the players while donning the customary captain’s blazer.

Barring Matthew Breetzke and Kwena Maphaka, every other player from the Proteas’ series against Pakistan was included in the setup. The inclusion of Lungi Ngidi was a notable one, who has been away from the format since August 2024. He missed out on the series against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan due to a groin injury, but has now recovered fully fit.

As far as the top-order is concerned, Ryan Rickelton will be expected to share the opening duties with Tony de Zorzi or Aiden Markram. Senuran Muthusamy will shoulder the spin-bowling responsibilities with Keshav Maharaj, if at all, the think tank fields two spinners at Lord’s, however, if any or both make it to the Playing XI remains a question until match day.

Kagiso Rabada will be leading the pace attack along with Dane Peterson and Ngidi. The all-rounders of the likes of Marco Jansen, Wiaan Mulder, and Corbin Bosch will be present as well. It remains to be seen the XI South Africa go ahead with. They will be keen on getting hands on the silverware, which will be their first since their triumph in the Wills International Cup (now Champions Trophy) in 1998.
