In an unfortunate turn of events, Ishan Kishan has sustained a foot injury while training on the eve of India’s clash against Namibia in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue are set to face the African side at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday, February 12. Ahead of the clash, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter’s injury will keep fans on the edge.

Kishan was hit on his toe by a top-class yorker from the talismanic Jasprit Bumrah. He was down on the floor and wincing in pain shortly after copping the blow. This is a concerning update from the Indian camp, especially after Abhishek Sharma’s struggles with a stomach bug which led to him being hospitalised.

In India’s first game in the T20 World Cup, which was against the USA, Abhishek was dismissed for a golden duck, while Kishan made 20 off 16 deliveries. The latter made a comeback to India’s T20 side during the five-match series against New Zealand after an exile of more than two years. He showed tremendous form, amassing 215 runs in four innings at an average of 53.75 and a strike rate of 231.18.

Kishan returns to the nets

Later during India’s training session, Kishan returned to the nets, according to RevSportz’ reporter Gargi Raut. When he finally walked back to the dressing room, he reportedly sported a smile while walking with a slight hobble.

In the game against the USA, India didn’t have a great outing with the bat. The defending champions were in dire straits at 77/6 in the 13th over. However, skipper Suryakumar Yadav led from the front with a brave knock of 84 not out off 49 balls. During his excellent innings, the right-handed batter belted 10 fours and four sixes.

India eventually finished on 161/9 in their 20 overs. In reply, the USA were restricted to 132/8, losing the game by 29 runs. Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers for the home side as he ended his spell with figures of 3/29 in four overs.
