Stats: Shubman Gill surpasses Gavaskar, Kohli in list of most series runs by India captain

Shubman Gill etched his name into Indian cricket history by going past Sunil Gavaskar to become the leading run-scorer as an Indian captain in a Test series. This feat occurred in the first session of Day 1 of the final Test of the ongoing series between England and India.

Gill did so by punching a back-of-a-length and wider delivery by Jamie Overton for a four through covers on the final ball of the 21st over of India’s innings to register his second boundary of the morning, his second of Overton too.
