England etched their name into the record books after they declared their innings at 565/6 after 96.3 overs against Zimbabwe in their one-off Test at Trent Bridge on Friday, May 23. Their run rate of 5.85 runs per over is the third-highest in an innings with 500 runs or more.

With this, England have cemented their dominance in the list with all five entries at the top belonging to them. Notably, each instance has been achieved under the leadership of Ben Stokes with Brendon McCullum as the head coach.

England had got to 498/3 at the end of 88 overs at Stumps on Day 1. Zak Crawley (124 off 171), Ben Duckett (140 off 134), and Ollie Pope (171 off 166) all notched up respective tons on the first day. A quickfire half-century by Harry Brook (58 off 50) was the outlet for the bulk of the runs scored on the second day before the hosts declared at 565/6.
