Ben Stokes etched his name into the annals of cricketing history while registering his 14th Test ton during the fourth Test of the ongoing five-match series between England and India. He also surpassed the 7000-run mark while notching up the feat on Day 4 of the contest.

With this, Stokes also became only the third player to score 7000 Test runs and scalp 200 wickets in the longest format of the game, oining Jacques Kallis and Garfield Sobers.

The English skipper backed up his five-wicket haul with a stellar century in the subsequent innings of the current Test. With this, he became the 13th English cricketer to get to 7000 Test runs. The all-rounder got past the feat on the fourth ball of the 149th over of England’s innings by using his feat against a Washington Sundar delivery over the long-off fence.

He was eventually dismissed for 141 off 198 by Ravindra Jadeja on the third ball of the 156th over while trying to clear the long-on fence. He walked off to a standing ovation from the jam-packed Old Trafford.

Earlier in the match, Stokes secured his first five-wicket haul (5/72 in 24 overs) in eight years as England were successful in bundling out the visitors for 358 before amassing a massive 669.

The final fixture of the series will be played at The Oval, scheduled to commence at July 31.
