Former RCB captain Virat Kohli has finally spoken out on the tragedy, expressing his deep sorrow over the incident. RCB’s historic IPL 2025 title win turned into heartbreak after a tragic incident during the victory celebrations at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

What was meant to be a joyous occasion quickly descended into chaos as a stampede broke out in the packed stands, leaving 11 people dead and more than 50 injured. The veteran stated that June 4, 2025, will forever remain a heartbreaking day for the RCB family. Kohli extended his condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the recovery of those injured.

“Nothing in life really prepares you for a heartbreak like June 4th. What should’ve been the happiest moment in our franchise’s history… turned into something tragic. I’ve been thinking of and praying for the families of those we lost… and for our fans who were injured. Your loss is part of our story now. Together, we will move forward with care, respect and responsibility,” said Kohli posted on Instagram by RCB.

Following the incident, authorities have launched an investigation into the lapses in crowd management and safety measures. Several decisions have also been made to shift future large-scale celebrations to alternative venues to ensure public safety.

In the wake of the tragic stampede that occurred during the RCB’s victory celebrations in June, the franchise has announced a six-point manifesto under its social initiative wing, RCB Cares. The manifesto outlines long-term measures aimed at supporting the families affected and ensuring such an incident is never repeated.

This initiative follows RCB’s earlier decision to extend financial assistance of ₹25 lakh to each of the bereaved families. With the new manifesto, the team has pledged to honour the victims and carry forward their legacy through meaningful, on-ground initiatives.

The tragedy unfolded when authorities denied permission for an open-top bus parade from Vidhana Soudha to Chinnaswamy. Despite restrictions, more than two lakh fans gathered near the venue after RCB announced the celebrations and went ahead with a loosely-managed event that turned into a horror episode for countless fans and locals.
