Scheduling is something that's out of our control: Tom Latham

The Champions Trophy 2025 is in the knockout stage and the next semi-final is set to be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore between South Africa and New Zealand. This will be another great matchup between two teams who are looking for their second Champions Trophy title.

There has already been a lot of debate over travelling between Pakistani venue cities and Dubai since both New Zealand and South Africa had to travel to Dubai and come back to Pakistan for the upcoming match. Kiwi star wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham spoke on the matter, downplaying the scheduling issues and traveling involved.

“(The scheduling) is something that’s out of our control, For us, it is about turning up at each game regardless of where it is and trying to play our best brand of cricket as best we can. Whether it be here or in Pakistan, our focus will obviously be on South Africa,” Latham said as quoted by The Times of India.

Apart from this Latham also opened up on the upcoming clash against the Proteas and what is to be expected from the team. Latham spoke about the matches they played against the opposition in the Tri-series and how confident they are about playing against the Temba Bavuma-led side.

“I think we’ve seen throughout the games in Pakistan that towards the back end, a little bit of juice settles in and sometimes can be a little bit easier. We’ll have to wait and see what sort of surface we get and go from there.

“We’re fortunate enough we had a Tri-Series in Pakistan against South Africa, So, we’ve got a chance to look back on those experiences and give it our best in a semi-final, which is pretty cool. They’ve got all bases covered in terms of batting, bowling, and fielding. It’s going to be a fantastic game, and I’m sure both teams are really looking forward to it,” Latham concluded.
