Star South Africa batter Heinrich Klaasen has captured all the headlines after he was recently fined by the ICC (International Cricket Council) for breaching their code of conduct. The star batter was fined 15% of his match fee for committing a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.
One demerit point has also been added to his disciplinary record for violating Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. It is worth noting that the fine was given to him after he kicked the stumps following his dismissal against Pakistan in the second ODI of the ongoing series.
Klaasen was the standout performer for the Proteas in the second ODI. Aiming to chase down a target of 330 runs, Klaasen scored 97 runs in 74 deliveries but his knock was not enough to propel the Proteas to a win.
South Africa hopes for a consolation win in the third ODI
Speaking of the ongoing ODI series between South Africa and Pakistan, the series has been a forgettable one for the Proteas. With two ODIs done, Pakistan has managed to win both games. The Men in Green registered a three-wicket win in Paarl and followed it up with another good showing in Cape Town.
In the second ODI, Pakistan came in to bat first, and thanks to Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam who scored 80 and 73 runs, respectively, Pakistan posted a total of 329 runs on the board. Furthermore, they managed to limit South Africa to a score of 248 runs, thanks to Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah as Pakistan registered an 81-run win.
