Reports: BCB’s anti corruption unit identifies 10 players to have fixed matches

After the Bangladesh Premier League got embroiled in the allegations of late payment to the players by the franchises, the tournament has got itself into a fresh controversy. Rumours are surfacing about the potential max fixing by players involved in BPL. It was reported that after receiving tips from anonymous sources, BCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit took notice of eight matches in the tournament under suspicion of spot-fixing and match-fixing.

According to Cricbuzz, the players in question are under intense scrutiny of the Anti-Corruption Unit and their activities and the other four franchises are being closely monitored. It is worth noting that the unit has identified six of the accused players to have represented the Bangladesh team, while two are un uncapped and other two are foreign players.

“Look, I cannot make any official comment in this regard until the investigation is completed because there is a protocol that we need to follow. The whole list and the events that happen during the tournament are noted and the investigation is done later,” said BCB president Faruque Ahmed.

“If during the investigation something comes up, then you know the punishment is quite harsh, and if I find out something, their life will be quite different because I won’t spare anyone guilty. The decision will be taken once and for all, and it will be exemplary,” he added.

According to media reports, the eight suspected matches are: Fortune Barishal vs Rajshahi (January 6), Rangpur Riders vs Dhaka (January 7), Dhaka vs Sylhet (January 10), Rajshahi vs Dhaka (January 12), Chittagong vs Sylhet (January 13), Barishal vs Khulna Tigers (January 22), and Chittagong vs Sylhet.
