The 2024-25 edition of India’s premier First-Class cricket tournament, the Ranji Trophy, has reached its knockout stage after seven rounds of intense cricket. The quarter-final is all set to begin from February 8, featuring some of the best-performing teams from the group stage.

Defending champions Mumbai secured their spot in the knockouts after an important innings victory over Meghalaya in the final round. Despite a few losses, they managed to finish second in Group A and will now be looking for their 43rd title. They will also have Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube for the crucial phase of the competition.

On the other hand, Jammu & Kashmir have been the surprise package of the season, finishing atop Group A. This is only the third time in history that J&K has reached the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals, and they did so in style, winning five of their seven matches. Their most notable victory came against Mumbai in the sixth round.

From Group B, Vidarbha was the most dominating team, having 40 points with six wins in seven matches. They comfortably secured a home quarter-final, where they will face Tamil Nadu, who finished second in Group D.

Meanwhile, Haryana and Kerala have qualified from Group C. The former finished on top with an unbeaten streak while the latter made it to the quarter-finals for only the third time in history. Kerala confirmed their spot after their innings victory over Bihar in the final round.

In Group D, Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu took the top two spots. Saurashtra, the 2019-20 champions, bounced back strongly after early defeats and secured a crucial 10-wicket win over Delhi to confirm their quarter-final berth.
