The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced their Ranji Trophy squad for their quarter-final match against Haryana, scheduled to begin on February 08 at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium, Lahli in Rohtak. The defending champions have included India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Shivam Dube in their squad for this important game.

Mumbai, the most successful team in Ranji Trophy history with 42 titles, finished second in Elite Group A, finishing with 29 points. They needed a win over Meghalaya in their final league match to qualify for the knockouts, which they achieved comfortably. Shardul Thakur played a crucial role in that victory with an all-round performance. Despite not being at their best, Mumbai managed to stay in the top half of the table and now face Haryana, who topped Group C.

Suryakumar, who had a forgettable T20I series against England, scoring just 28 runs across five matches, will look to get back his form in the red-ball format. With India having limited commitments in T20Is shortly, Surya will return to domestic cricket. Although he played one Ranji Trophy match earlier in the season, he was mostly occupied with white-ball cricket, helping Mumbai win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Dube, on the other hand, had a decent T20I series, scoring a half-century in Pune after replacing the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy in the squad. He also picked up wickets. However, his last Ranji appearance against Jammu & Kashmir ended on a poor note, as he was dismissed for a pair.

Mumbai has announced an 18-member squad led by Ajinkya Rahane. Apart from Suryakumar and Dube, the team has the likes of Shardul Thakur and Shams Mulani, alongside young talents such as Tanush Kotian, Ayush Mhatre, and Suryansh Shedge. Harsh Tanna has also been included, replacing Shreyas Gurav.
