A supposed operational lapse during the ongoing Indian Premier League game between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals meant the scoreboard disappeared for 1.3 overs from Star Sports’ live telecast on Saturday, April 5. The malfunction was quite evident moments after Nehal Wadhera struck a maximum off Wanindu Hasaranga.

A few key events unfolded during the match when the scorecard vanished from the television screens of millions of users. However, there was no sign of it whatsoever, which further intrigued social media users.

Glenn Maxwell struck Maheesh Theekshana for a couple of boundaries on the first two deliveries of the 15th over. The Sri Lankan off-break bowler had the last laugh on the final delivery of the over with the help of a carrom ball which could only be struck as far as long-on.

RR ended up emerging comfortable victors by 50 runs. PBKS ended up on 155/9 at the end of their allotted 20-over quota. Nehal Wadhera top-scored with 62 off 41 deliveries. Other than him, only Glenn Maxwell could get to the 30-run mark for the hosts. Jofra Archer ended up with figures of 3/25 in his four-over spell. Earlier in the evening, RR posted 205/4 in their 20-over quota.

A brisk innings by Yashasvi Jaiswal (67 off 45) was followed by Royan Parag’s unbeaten 43* off 25 deliveries. Skipper Sanju Samson (38 off 26) and Shimron Hetmyer (20 off 12) contributed quite well too. This was RR’s second win of the season after starting off IPL 2025 with two losses on the trot.
