The Punjab Kings take on the Gujarat Titans in Match 4 of the ongoing 2026 season of the Indian Premier League at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Monday, March 31.

PBKS come into 2026 on the back of a brilliant season in 2025, where they finished runners-up after being beaten by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the finals. They were one of the most dominant teams in the league, finishing first in the league stage. They will be looking to win their first major crown in 2026, with a solid squad to back them up.

GT had a strong season in 2025, with their third playoff finish in four seasons. Heavily reliant on a strong top three of Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler, along with a well-balanced bowling attack, they finished third in the points table before being beaten by the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator.

Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium: Pitch Report

The pitch has traditionally been batting-friendly, with teams winning the toss preferring to chase. The outfield is quick, with the ball racing to the boundaries. A wicket where dew has an impact does provide assistance for the seamers early on, with some grip for the spinners. With the offer for the bowlers, it is pertinent that more teams have won batting first at New Chandigarh.

PBKS vs GT: Talking points

Both teams have very solid bowling attacks, but GT’s middle order is a talking point due to the lack of reliable options. Another point of note is the form of Jos Buttler, who had a dismal T20 World Cup. His role at number three was vital for the Titans, and if his lean run is to continue, it puts a spanner in the works for GT. The teams have faced each other six times and have won three games each.
