Star Indian cricketer Tilak Varma has recently joined Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav in expressing that Pakistan are ‘no competition’ for them. The Men in Blue emerged victorious against Pakistan thrice in the recently-concluded Asia Cup.

However, Tilak agreed that there was a lot of pressure on him. However, he conceded that he was resolute in giving everything he had for the team’s chances of claiming victory by staying composed throughout his time at the crease. The southpaw mentioned that he pushed himself to give his maximum effort with the bat and is delighted with the way it all panned out.

“I agree with what Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) bhai said, that it (Pakistan) is no competition. But we change our strategy from match to match. There indeed was pressure; a lot was going on in my mind. But the country is above everything else. India is at the top. So, I was determined to give everything for my country. I tried to be calm,” stated Tilak, as quoted by The Times of India.

“I knew that I will win the game. I was just thinking about my country and was focusing on one ball at a time. I backed myself to deliver for the country and I am so proud of it that I was able to do it successfully,” he added.

With the recent five-wicket triumph against the Salman Ali Agha-led side in Dubai, the Men in Blue won their ninth title in the 41-year-old history of the continental competition. Tilak, for his fabulous unbeaten 53-ball 69-run knock, earned the Player of the Match accolade. His brilliant knock comprised three fours and four sixes.

Coming in at a difficult situation, he anchored the innings superbly and ended teaming up with Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube to navigate the falling innings successfully. A bunch of ex-cricketers and the cricket community showered quite a lot of praise on Tilak’s maturity, while he has become a household name across the country for his heroics on Sunday night.
