India square off against New Zealand for one last time in the five-match T20I series, and this encounter will be played at Seddon Park, Hamilton, on Sunday, November 1.

The Men in Blue are 3-1 ahead in the series and therefore the fifth T20I is effectively a dead rubber. However, so was the fourth T20I but fans witnessed some exhilarating action, especially from the Kiwis.

India won the first three T20Is rather convincingly to seal the series. On Friday, at Eden Park, Auckland, New Zealand batted with great freedom and posted a mammoth total of 259/7 on the back of Glenn Phillips’ brilliant ton. In reply, India were restricted to 172/9, with Jacob Duffy bagging a four-for.

India have been phenomenal with the bat so far in the series barring the last game. However, they can improve their bowling. The fifth T20I gives them an opportunity to try out a few players. Specialist spinners Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav haven’t played a single game in the series so far. At least one of them could come into the line-up on Sunday. Sooryavanshi played a couple of games after Ishan Kishan got injured during the first T20I. However, the wicketkeeper-batter regained fitness ahead of the fourth T20I and replaced Sooryavanshi in the line-up. The fifth T20I could see the 15-year-old returning to the playing XI. Shivam Dube could also be given a chance to showcase his skills after sitting on the bench in the first four games.

Meanwhile, New Zealand’s batting department has been led by Glenn Phillips, who has two fifties and one century from four matches. In the fourth T20I, he slammed 107 off 49 balls. He will hold the key once again with the bat for the Black Caps. Another batter to watch out for is Daryl Mitchell, who has played some fine knocks so far in the series. The final game also gives the Kiwis a chance to bring in Devon Conway in place of Tim Seifert, who has only scored 36 runs from four innings. Duffy had a memorable outing with the ball in the last game and he would once again look to make a significant impact during the powerplay.

Seddon Park, Hamilton: Pitch Report

The Seddon Park in Hamilton has short boundaries and the pitches are generally true and flat. Batters are set to have a field day out in the middle. Bowlers will have very little margin for error and execution will be very important for them. Seamers would want to deliver when the ball is new as there could be some movement in the air and off the pitch.
