Hosts New Zealand Women (NZ-W) and Sri Lanka Women (SL-W) are set to have their clash in the first ODI of their three-match series. The opening game will be played at McLean Park, in Napier.

The White Ferns are currently positioned 5th in the ICC Women’s ODI Team Rankings with 97 rating points. Nevertheless have been struggling in 50-over aka ODI cricket. They lost a home series 2-0 to Australia Women recently and have lost key players, putting it as a question of concern. However, their batting lineup and bowling unit make them fierce opponents at home.

On the other side Sri Lanka Women, ranked 7th with 85 as their rating, last played an ODI series in August 2024, getting defeated 2-1 by Ireland Women away from home. Despite that defeat, they have shown decent form overall and will be looking forward to this series.
